Holding my key chain as Owl in my hand I entered the grocery shop..
The grocery shop is a family owned business selling fresh groceries around the corner...The lady smiled at me looking at me standing in the line...As I came closer she asked"" do you like owls"?
I looked at her " owls?? then looking at my key chain I laughed..o yaa.."
she observing me closely said" we consider owls as bad omen ...not good..its our cultural thing"
I looked at her and then looking at the beautiful owl in Rhine stones and cubic zircon ... I said ...is it?
I came home asked mom ...Are owls bad?
she looked at the key chain ,,, and said"In india we do consider it bad..but its your faith n belief. "dont get into that".

is it bad? wht do you say??
never really heard of any such thing so cant say...personally, I dont see any ill omen in owls.. especially not in things like bags or keychains
ReplyDeletehow could it be bad when its patronised by Goddess Lakshmi and faiths in India also differ...In maharashtra someone told me that if you see two owls sitting in your backyard..it means they will bring wealth to you, whereas in north its a bad omen...
ReplyDeleteBut I think that since owls are found at lonely places, people combined it with desolation.

ReplyDeleteOwl is supposed to be a very wise bird. It is also said that if you site an owl sitting on your house it means some good happening is round the corner. One should carry on doing what one needs to with full faith.

Yet another suprstitious belief Harman.. There might have been incedents that would haveoccured in the past with the sight of an owl. And being that the case they just brand the owl a bad omen...

I dont believe in these things ...and now that most of the people don't agree on these superstitions ...I have the owl wid me!
Frankly speaking I think I believe the opposite. Twice we changed houses and on both occasions there was an owl which came visiting us (don't know if it was the same one)

but these are all myths!

ReplyDeleteI remember your post on owl,it was beautiful pictures you clicked ...I dont think it makes any difference ..its jus the mind-set!
I remember an owl living at a tree close to my Grandmother's place when we were young and she always said if you see an owl during day time...its not good P.S they use it in black magic too..but in my Religion there is no such concept..and personally I find owl quite adorable..they are very peaceful creatures..dont intrude in your life..and keep their owlself to themselves:P

Regarding the owls, about the omens and all.. I do not know.. I personally find them cute.. :P
I have a copper locket of an owl.. And I love it ! :P
Dunno if it's bad or not but I love owls..I've three owl necklaces and two rings! hehe! I think owls are too cute to be considered as a bad omen :)
