Snow !(2011)

today when I got up this morning ,a very obvious surprise ...snow all over the place shining with pride....winters officially in Michigan.

We are heading towards Christmas ...how is it possible that we don't have white Christmas... last night after putting up Christmas tree till 11pm ...the boys were jumping with joy at the decorated Christmas tree ... We are late this yr putting up the tree ,usually we do after thanks giving...But my house was packed with guests so dint get time ..

its official winters now ...I got the feel when I had to put my snow boots , cap and gloves... then removing the snow from car and heading towards gym... which was wet too with snow on the door and carpet filled with water...

Oh Boy!!

Dark gloomy days..no sun for weeks ,jus snow all over the place..there is no other option jus be happy and take it as gift of mother nature,its part of the package I guess ...

Car Wash..

..I have been little busy these days with summer and guests at home so could not  write a lot,but summers brings us lot of sunshine in life and some fun activities which is at time amusing to see...
Car wash nowadays has been used as fund raising for school going kids ..they use the money in school and in return get credits which can be used in college for their enrolment and future development...its a noble act to help and get help in return for which we all look forward...
today at my work watching out of the window I was could see some teenagers standing on the side walk with bikinis and asking for car wash ....for which there was lot of honking on the road,probably guys were doing that....and some cars actually stopped ..may be for car wash....It was fun to see all this!
other day I was goin with my hubby and we stopped at the gas station (no ,not for car wash)I was amazed how dedicated these girls are and how people seem to be so civilised sitting in the cars and getting it cleaned...patiently without any stares...
......
this is very common scene now days...fund raising for school...I have clicked few pictures to show my friends and also how  Michigan is known for its scenic beauty ..where bollywood shoots are specially done in up-north (UP) its jus like ...oil paintings made by God.....

we are about to face crisis....jus an hour or so...we are away snow storm which has already created a havoc in other areas....the weather channel has been appealing people to prepare themselves for storm.....
A snowstorm that's expected to bring up to 5 inches to parts of the Lower Peninsula is making driving hazardous across Michigan..
its supposed to be heaviest snowfall ,all past records to be broken as per jan 2005...
Temperatures below freezing and wind gusts of up to 30 mph will accompany the storm.Local 4 Casters are reporting that the storm is expected to include "considerable blowing and drifting snow" in the southern and central parts of the state....
A high pitch drama...
The weather service said the heavy snowfall combined with high winds could create whiteout conditions, particularly on Tuesday night into Wednesday, making driving extremely dangerous in some areas. Snow drifts of 5 feet to 10 feet are possible.
Once the storm has moved through, bitterly cold temperatures are expected to grip much of the region. The weather service said wind chills as cold as 40 degrees below zero could hit parts of North Dakota and South Dakota....

• Between 1 and 2 inches of snow are expected to fall overnight and into Tuesday morning

• Snowfall is expected to begin between 7 and 10 p.m. Tuesday in metropolitan Detroit, around midnight for the Thumb region

• Peak intensity will be between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday, with heavy accumulation near the morning rush hour

• Snow could fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches an hour at the storm’s peak around dawn on Wednesday

• Snowfall should end by Wednesday afternoon

• A total of 10 to 15 inches is possible

• Heavy snow and high winds could cause power outages, and force travel delays and building closures

• Strong winds will create significant blowing and drifting, reducing visibility

• Wind chills will be in the zero range....


preparation in case of power outage,fire places and logs of woods....enough groceries and winter clothes...
getting gas cylinders filled up....for emergencies!emergency lights or candles....and enough water or igloo to be stored....for unseen storm hitting Michigan and related places!!

Get the fuel ...filled in cars..for emergency purpose.....

Sequel(What do you say?)

..In my previous blog...I had written about one of my close friends ANU..her preferences and expectations for life partner...to which I read many views ...
The reason I am writing a sequel on this..is I would like to clear some misconceptions on the views I read .

I think everyone looks for a better companion in life...I have never heard any girl saying she wants to get married to a poor guy..or get a ride on bicycle ..or looking for an illiterate person...I mean when we were in University most of my friends had similar kind of views except few things ..and had set their standards high..Girls from big towns or livin in US always have a class difference with those of villages or people from small towns...Most of us in my friends circle got married as per our choices...and luckily we found one!

Another thing which I would like to discuss here is ....having a mind-set on something and striving for that is nothing wrong..its always the society you move inn raise your standards of living and expectations... most of the Indians we know here in Michigan are Engineers as it has an Auto industry here..The Big three(GM,Ford,Chrysler)and they all have "DECENT"Cars...Indian community here ,the educated people ..professionals.. I am talking about ..the people I know ,have expensive houses and luxury cars...so its no big deal to find a person having all these ...and may be moving in that crowd as we have a common friend circle ...Anu has some expectations from life and partner!!!

Joint family was another factor ...Its good as long as it works in the family and respect each others decisions...but no compulsions...I would not harbor that thought since parents are precious for everyone and laying conditions before getting married not to live in joint family is considered not so good....things workout once we get into that situation ...and we know many Educated families here where parents live separately as they need their own space from their kids and keeping cordial relation with them....but on any Social gathering we see them together..
Lemme tell you I live in a joint family..so to me living close to my family is very important I get a feeling of security!
Anu had jus given her preferences ,but if it was a guy instead of her ,,,,he would look for some Queen in India ..expecting lot of things in dowry since he is US returned and even after that he would lay some conditions on her before bringing her to US.
And guys ...wait for few years we are not far from that age n era when girls gonna keep conditions too like boys before marriage ..see the rate of female infanticides..where the population of females is declining  ..there will be a bride hunting at every nook and corner..

Marriage to me is love and respect ..with adjustments ...and keeping the temperament in control...the real story of life begins
