KARWA CHAUTH

All  indian women around the world ...are celebrating Karwa Chauth.
Karwa Chauth' is a ritual of fasting observed by married Hindu women seeking the longevity, well-being and prosperity of their husbands. It is popular amongst married women in the northern and western parts of India,...some of my friends are doing the same ,took some time to deck up and fasting whole day for their hubbies and having some good time in the evening with food and rituals!!

I dont follow this ritual since its not in the sikh religion (as per the holy book) and nobody has ever done in the family ..though my husband would love me to do this..and see me in loads of jewelery and nice sharp saree with lots of sindhoor and nice updo with lots of bangles...and some anklets...which he always says...may be his tired of seeing me in jeans and tees.....you must be wondering where he got an idea of this kind of dressing up if nobody does it home...but Indian soaps teaches everyone ...he likes watching Indian women decked up in  soaps or serials..and often complains that I should dress up like that for work too...(his idea of leg pulling) 
I remember in our college days every gurl wanted a handsome and rich husband ...this was their Aim of life ...and to reach this goal they  observed many fasts and every other thing...I always wondered who will marry a poor guy?I being a very very emotional person once declared " I will marry a poor Guy"no matter what!!everybody was stunned at my words as if it was a crime I did! ...they looked at both my palms ..I have a beautiful crescent moon if I join both my hands...they said "tumhara pati chand sa hoga " (your husband will be handsome)but with poor guy you will get a ride on bicycle and we will get ride in a car they mocked at me!!...I had tears in my eyes (as if I was really married to a poor guy)I declared after sometime I will also get married to a rich guy ...it was age of innocence and myths,,,,We then went to a baba to know our future(the one sitting on the road)and wanted to know about future ...everybody asked the same question (where is our husband?) the baba was actually surprised looking at us...sayin CRAZY!!one of our friends she was keen on going to Switzerland ..actually asked Baba will I go to Switzerland for Honeymoon?baba had no idea about where switzerland was... baba said"woh kahan hai bacche"(where is that kid?)
another one of my friends smiled and  said "HELL"
so all of got married ..to nice guys...but none of the prediction was correct...except mine ..Baba had said "tumhara bahar ka sanjog hai"(you will settle in abroad) I was actually very happy at that time ...(it was a big achievement for me for those who said I would get a ride on "bicycle")I was on seventh heaven..as if I was moving in US itself...ha haa haaa
...so time passed away ..karwa chauth came and went....I never got decked up the way my hubby wants...the very thought of decking up like Indian soaps  stars makes me laugh loudly ...he is in Canada right now...called me and asked me again, so this year your are getting decked up like indian soap stars? I laughed..ok but how do I break the fast since you are not right here....

DESI's!

Living in US for past ten yrs or may be more..As we all know Indians are addressed as "DESI's ...all over America...and we take it as pride to be Desi as INDIAN not phirangi even though we are US citizens ...but when it comes to our basic thinking we cannot run away from that....we think in terms of money ,saving and educating our kids to the professional level..which is always appreciated by other nationalities..Indian kids excel academically ,its a known fact if they don't..parents die of embarrassment cuz its a peer pressure!!!
Talking of Indians in America..you might find in abundance ..every other kid goin to Med-school...they are prepared that way... the kid likes it or not..its actually surprising when I hear every other kid is goin to med -school..if you are wondering their parents are doctors or engineers ..nopes!! many of these parents are uneducated and had been doing odd jobs ..but the stupendous amount of money collected by couples and renting some properties is appreciable ..if you happen to see them ...they are in poor shape...their aim is to make the kid study and excel in life ..which is good ..but then why keep yourself deprived of all good things in spite of having everything....they will pool cars or buy from sale ..or even get stuff from India (hoarding) and keep using it forever and ever.till death apart them....
This is very common among many Indians...if one kid is going to Med-school ,the rest will get panicked ...and the kid is a scape goat..
getting a kid to Med -school is something very expensive ...but our Indians ... ...will try to pay from their resources and wont take any financial-Aid (which is available at low interest)and torture them-self to every extent....they don't believe in American theory or loans...but SAVINGS..every other way....they will use their overtimes to run the house and salaries in bank...or buying some land in India and selling it when kid is ready for med-school..
Now lets talk about kids...the kid whose parents are killing them-self to save money for med school ..is all Americanized ..moving at American pace.... same life style all smarty pants.. girls and boys..same-thing...
they don't wanna mingle in Indian culture...they are termed as confused DESI's..
Now the Med-school theory...everybody cannot get best universities ..so they will send their kids to some unknown med-schools but the clinical rotations will be in US and residency too..so it works ,but the kid has to study for sure, no short -cuts...now when they are all set after residency.....then what happens.
The real life drama begins now...
The kid is now working in one the good hospitals John Hopkins may be...and dating a girl ...which is fine ,but parents are now big embarrassment for him ...the same parents who fed him,killed themselves for his med -school so that he doesn't have to pay the loan and is set to start his career ....doesn't want to show to his friends his uneducated parents..so the parents are forced and sent to India to enjoy their old age ..or parents are living alone with help of others.....
I would say the parents here should be more practical and save for old age ...to let kids pay their debts and know the value of  hard earned money....they should only guide kids,rest is everyone has to pay for their own deeds...

The parents who think that by keeping the kids free of debts and giving them a carefree life is mistaken ...as parents they spend all time in earning and saving without enjoying life looking at the kids that they would enjoy the perks in old age with their kids but...kids have mind of their own now...with no strings attached....they are Americanized in every way and need space and independence ....the parents are unwanted now!!!

This scene is very common here....its pathetic to see senior citizens (Indians) living in apartments alone...not out of personal choice but to keep kids happy.. till end of their life depriving them self from many worldly things....
One my uncles recently ..seeing all this scenario among Indian community decided to write his will (this uncle is very rich)that his property will be given to his kids only after they are professionals completing their studies after his death otherwise it will go to a charitable trust ..as the kids were giving him hard time looking at their money ..both of his kids are going to med-school and they have taken financial -aid on the basis that kids are independent and not living with them,which is a wise decision .....
the kids looking at the will have stopped throwing tantrums now....much better now and more respectful toward parents...I was actually surprised to see the change in attitude of kids as to how smart they are!!!
to conclude I would say if kids are smart these days ,parents don't have to be emotional Fools!!!

Body ODOR!!

 
.this is something which is so offending and annoying to people.."Bad Body odor"and the worst part part is that one cannot complain or say much to a stranger...

"Bad body odor can happen to anyone at any time. It may be the arm pits that are smelling or maybe the feet. At times, the hair can also smell bad and bad odor can also come through sweat glands on the body.  It is important to understand what is causing the bad odor and try to fix that problem rather than try cosmetic solutions which will work only in the short term."

The unpleasant smell our bodies can give off when bacteria that live on the skin break down sweat into acids - some say it is the smell of bacteria growing on the body, but it really is the result of bacteria breaking down protein into certain acids.

I had this lady who came to me for some work at my office and I could smell her  bad from a distance...its kind of annoying but one cannot offend a complete stranger,I could figure out from her clothes how clean she was!!! but the worst part is you cannot throw somebody out of work place...rubbing my Nose again and again I tried to finish as soon as possible....

Most of the time people themselves dont know that how bad they smell ....and jus come straight from home or office...smell like cigarettes... I mean its so annoying coming from clothes or when you talk...bad breath...

1)if you smell something unpleasant....take a bath immediately to get rid of unpleasant odor....
Use deodorants not only antiperspirant but also antibacterial.....
do not buy soap that has a high level of perfume and alcohol. do not use soaps that has a moisturizing effect. because if you use this in your underarm the skin will not be dry.
 
2).I would say smell yourself before going out and meeting other people ....Change your clothes if at home or  cooking before going for shopping or any gathering...Wash your clothes everyday!!even if they don't look dirty...they still have a body odor!!(biggest myth people have ,they don't look dirty)
If you did not wash your clothes immediately the bacterial activity continues in your shirt and multiply continuously.....especially to your wet in the sweat shirt....

3)do not eat to much fatty foods, meats, oily foods....Remember this..Oils, fats after eating will  eliminate in the body in the process of sweating...releasing odor....

 
4)If you sleep early your body cells and tissues will repair when you sleep.. the early you sleep at night the longer you body will repair it self inside and outside...

"If your feet are smelling bad, you need to understand that your body is telling you to change your diet. Start wearing cotton socks ( and change them twice a day) so that the feet may breath easy and wear leather shoes, which breathe. Every evening dip your feet in hot water to which alum has been added. Rub some potato slices to the soles to help control the smell.  You may also sprinkle some baking soda on your feet before putting on the socks. Baking soda is a well known anti odor agent."

I think being educated and wearing some trendy clothes is not all..but personal hygiene is important too..many a times people neglect as a result getting embarrassed...in front of others....if your near and dear ones have a problem try talking to the person with out making him or her embarrassed....and fixing it...

I remember one of my friends often use to complain that Gym sometimes smells bad ..and they told the authority about this...there were two guys who had a body odor problem and they were Indians when the manager talked to them politely about this issue ,they yelled at him ...and even to the extent to cancel the membership and ..in hindi saying" Manager mere hathon aaj marega"(manager will die today)she actually heard them saying...they were that offended not knowing how annoying it was for other people working out in that same place...for no fault of them..
its actually not accepting the fact...to fix the problem ..is yet to come...

People think unless anybody complains its fine...and keep hanging... usually people with bad body odor are dejected.....people dont want their company and treat them in low esteem ,they are refused and shown door most of the time with no respect...
If you have this problem ,take it seriously and try fixing it!!!

Fatigue

 

Fatigue is sometimes killing...its kinda a tacky situation.

I had heard how fatigue can sometimes be hilarious...with a fact that we can actually see stars during day.....

It happened a month back...I was coming back from work...it was a long day...like seven pm ..tired and traffic was very slow ...I was kinda keen to know what has happened on the intersection that its taking so long..so, moving slowly I could  see..two police Cars with cops around...there was a diversion in the route ......getting annoyed as I wanted to go home....I hopped ..and managed ,reached closer to intersection..I could see a Car jumped over moved to the side walk...and some people around....as I reached little bit closer I could figure out they looked more like Asians or Indians ..may be Mediterraneans ...though the skin color was light but black hair....looking at the accident I thought ..hope the driver is safe..as the bumper was crashed ..all glass scattered..on the road...I came closer I could  see the people around ..there were some ladies and some men...A tall guy, far away...looked like my husband..I thought ..he resembles so much.... jus like him ..I thought somebody has said right"God has made at least one similar face of everyone in this world" ... I looked around ..cops were in action ..with lights blinking and  directing the traffic....I looked at the crowd near the accident car...the view was better now...I looked at this tall guy again ...his track pants were similar like my hubby ..same kind same style..which he loves wearing even if its dirty !! I thought..see,  ..I will go home and tell  him there are similar kind of people like him with similar style,wish I had a camera..my cell was not working...

I reached the intersection now....stopped at the red light and could  see Clearly....OH ..my God!!...its was my friend who had an accident and her husband and other friends were there..and that tall guy was my hubby who was helping them ...so strange!!!the cop told me to move  as I was thinking how everyone was here....I looked around tried taking a turn but looking at the police I drove and took my way home...

Once I reached home I called and asked my hubby what happened ..it was a one of our friends who was hit by a truck and car jumped to the other side,,,my hubby who was passing by ,stooped looking at our friends and was helping them... The Car was totally broken but nobody was injured..the Truck who hit ,was standing there with the cops ..I had seen..that...

When my husband came home I told him how confused I was ...and assumed that it was some other guy with a similar resemblance...he was smiling ..looking at me ...he said" Really".I thought the same ..it was somebody else staring ...in the car ..even though the number plate was same!!!

(he was pulling my leg)

I could have helped but the fact is I don't want to mess or get a ticket from Cops....who always have a reason for minor mistakes too...

SHOP-lifting

 I was at the store the other day...in a cosmetic section..looking for a certain product ..but was kinda of surprised to see many of the testers missing ...I called the lady handling the section..she gave me a new tester...to try the product..
its something which we generally call a shoplifting looking at the missing products...another chronicle disease in the society...in spite of the strict laws and surveillance these people still manage to steal ...
..its gets an obsession to steal ..its not a need or they cannot pay..but the peer pressure is so much sometimes that its followed blindly....
With festive season around the corner ... I see more cops in parking lots or stores or restaurants as economy is not in favor and those who cannot afford look for other ways...
Angie a middle aged lady who had written about her obsessions for stealing which is an example for those who steal...its was not her need BUT a habit..It started when she was a teenager hanging with bunch of friends who always had a reason to steal..and said "the store people overcharge us and we need to get our money back"..they mocked at Angie who did not steal ,,and soon Angie too joined the group...
Angie's parents never bothered where she was getting all the expensive stuff being a student...she manged to sneak every other thing as always carrying an over sized bag ....but was never caught...Angie mentioned ..that she considered herself an expert ..not like other gurls who were amateurs ....she was proud of the fact...
Soon she married Dave..who was impressed by looks and dressing sense....Dave didn't knew about Angie's hidden obsessions....Dave never bothered to ask his wife from where she gets expensive stuff ..as she was working so he assumed its purchased!!..and soon the house was overflowing with every other possible thing in the world...
she thought other people were mad...spending so much money..but didn't know it was a serious offence if she was caught and damaging the society as a whole..she had two kids ..whom she loved so much ..they were teenagers now....she managed every other thing to her kids....the kids had lot of love and respect for their mother.
then,One day...when she went to the store ,she looked around and decided to steal a small lip balm ...
she didn't realize a hidden camera on the roof....which was monitored by store manager ...and few minutes later she was handed over to the cops.....
Angie couldn't believe..she was caught..looking at the product she stole for which she was caught but her past clean record saved her she was arrested by the police.and warned but they wanted to talk to her husband ..before leaving her and this act was in her record now...not knowing what to do she had to call her husband....who came to police station embarrassed by her act ..paid penalty and took her home...the kids were surprised by mom ;s Act and asked her all weird questions,she lost all the respect they had for her ,which made her guilty all the time...Dave didn't talk to Angie for weeks..which was killing....for her....but kept an eye on her activities....
If you are thinking Angie stopped shop lifting with this episode, nope...she was so much obsessed even she if she did not want it...she had to steal for the sake of stealing, ...she had a disease called kleptomania(urge to steal)...
After lot of arguments with Dave and her marriage on Rocks ..Angie agreed to visit the doctor ...she had several sessions in the hospital..and in-between her husband never allowed her to shop alone or bring anything from store...
..She once visited a store alone during her recovery years ..she had an urge to lift so many things like a drug addict who has a craving...but managed to control and move out of the store...
it took her years to come out of this disease which started as fun with friends and became an obsession to end up as crime ...
People shoplift because they see it as a way of getting back at a store they don't like or a company whose values their question. But shoplifting rarely affects the store as much as it affects the people who shop there. Some stores may add the cost of shoplifting into their prices. So the people shopping there are the ones paying extra, not the stores.

What Happens to Shoplifters?
Getting caught shoplifting can be a lot more serious than people may think. Some of the things that can happen to shoplifters are:

1)They may be arrested and paraded through a store in handcuffs.
2)They may face charges for theft.
3)They may be banned from stores or malls.
4)People who have been arrested for shoplifting — especially if it's more than once — may end up with a criminal record. This can make it harder to get a job, get into college, or do the other things they want.

Shoplifting is a crime and has major consequences compared to what you can get out of it.

Baba Culture!(so called preachers of society)

Its surprising to see Discourses on channels and number of these so called saints seen on every other Indian Channel..seems like this business is flourishing...and not to forget to mention number of followers they have ,make them sit on pedestals like God.. its a pity..on those who are still lost in that darkness never had opportunity to listen or hear the genuine people...
My blog is for all those Dhoongi Baba's (fake Saints)who not only fool people but also exploit men and women in the name of God.
Recently I went through a Video where a Baba (saint)who was pissed  and using some vulgar language against the common people who tried to expose him...this so called baba is a renowned personality and Carries an Audi with a red light as a VIP..He said ..Why cant I enjoy luxuries like a common man and move in luxury cars ..gone are the days when saints use to walk bare foot...he was pointing out at a singer ..who tried to expose him and the baba was appealing to people to slap these singers and they are worthless people ..it was like a mad house pointing fingers at each other!!!
I remember an Incident ..few yrs back ...We had a similar kind of baba, this incident I am narrating is a real one..It happened in Canada, people from Canada might be knowing whom I am talking about..
we met this baba in Toronto one of our relatives took us to this place to meet him and attend his sessions..
we generally dont believe in all this Baba Culture..but sometimes its a mark of respect to some older person to listen to them.
As we enetered the hall I could see lot of people sitting...we went ahead and wished him..he told us to sit down ...the lady told mom to keep $50 next to him...not less then that!!!this guy was like in late sixties..wearing white clothes...and observing everyone...he told everyone to close eyes and meditate and started his "JAP"(humming) ...he said ,you will see almighty but have to remove all the thoughts cluttered in mind..most of the people I could see were behaving like lunatic people ..trying to catch something ..or crying for no reason...he said they...they are repenting on evil deeds they did ..some were clapping....I was actually Scared..We sat there for some time ...he was sayin again and again to close eyes...I opened my eyes in between to see what baba was doing....to my surprise he was staring at all the women's...it was ridiculous!!
Anyways..after coming home we decided to never visit again....but this baba had regular visits and session all over US too ,we kept on knowing from our friends....he came to US at somebody's place once we were at their place coincidentally ..so we met him again....but this time I was surprised ..one of the friends had a beautiful wife named M...I could see Babas inclination towards her ..and he was having converstion with her most of the time...this baba was married had his kids and family..his wife was with him most of the time.
Not to stretch the story...Soon Baba was millionaire...he had a house on Suburbs of Toronto...on Hills...we came to know..he had immense fan following....and people started attending his sessions...everybody could see God now ,they said!!!
..Now one day we came to know that Mrs M and baba are together and Mrs M publically announced in one of the sessions that this is a case of reincarnation and Baba was her husband and they are meant to be together and Mrs M's husband agreed on this too .(disgusting)And said its true!!..babas wife agreed too...everybody was a fool sitting there ..no mind of their own..A Bunch of idiots!!...and soone Mrs M and baba had a house of their own...had a kid also... things got worse when he started abusing the holy book of Sikhs..Guru Granth Sahib... and termed himself the ultimate guru of all....someone made this video in the sessions and broadcast-ed on You- tube ..
The Drama then started....A big Mob came destroyed the whole place,looking for baba..who like coward was hiding inn somewhere...all the members attending that session were injured..their bones were broken..some of them were in hospital...it was in local newspapers and every where..In michigan Gurudwara they announced publicly not to attend sessions as these people are fraud they know to hypnotize and look for money....protect your women at home..
 Baba was out of scene with other members ,nobody knew..people looked for him..but never found...him.

where is baba now?...he lives somewhere in Canada..but nobody knows!!Mrs M never came back ,still with that Baba... inspite of all requests by friends and family members...Mrs M;s husband left her,no clue where he is!!!
everybody knows the story..here ....
Its might not be first time you heard this,there are many other cases too..but still I fail to understand why people follow blindly...do they need an Anchor for life?
We are in the age and Era where we have internet ..nobody can fool around...the youth needs to wake up and keep these people aside..learning or looking for spiritual side is nothing wrong....meditation is a healing power....But please beware of these incidents and follow the preaching of holy book as designated ...which has a meaning to all ...
God  or Almighty ..has not or never will be seen.those who claim are liars!!...its his power that can be felt!!!
