...Most of the time ..in gatherings I see people wanting to jump in the discussion not even knowing the real cause of discussion...that itch is there all the time.
its not only offensive but creates an ugly scene ...shows up the personality ..these kinda people are generally very talkative and other wise very shallow...its jus they want the whole discussion in their hand...
..its an insult to other people sitting there discussing an issue..when one jus jumps out of his/her turn and tries to be Jack of all Arts...
imagine if you are in the shoes of the host?
You show respect and honour to a person when you’re listening.....It also demonstrates you think what they’re saying is important... You may be validating the person by listening to them. Did you ever think you may be building someone’s self-confidence by listening? You could be..... Listening is also beneficial for building a credible reputation. The more you listen, the more others will listen to what you have to say. Those are just a few reasons why listening is important..
Have you ever noticed that the words listen and silent are spelled with the same letters? Perhaps this is no accident, because in many ways they mean the same thing..
please it will take a minute ..and try solving this quiz.. it will help you to know more about yourself..
thanks...

We lack listening skills. Everyone wants to talk in the USA - same in meetings too, But unfortunately people who talk loud and manage to make sure everyone else is not talking - they rise higher
In women's groups I have seen this many times and most of the women are talking and none is listening:)
hii Harman dear!
i think precisely the same..i loved this post :)
and thanks for the wonderful quiz!
Sometimes if we would just take time to listen to people, we could help initiate a healing process in their lives.
Nice article.... :)

@Gaurav..thanks..
it helps to get connected through our blogs!
Very true.It is a common trait to interrupt people in conversations.Listening skill is to be cultivated for better communication and undersatnding.
A very nicely written post.
I think being a host takes a lot of courage and a lot of skills. I mean not just anyone can be a host and should be prepared for anything ! From an ancheor to a TV host... @ times during guest appearances or a discussion things can deff. get out of hand.. I mean, when someone's ego is hurt or they feel like they're being targeted on stage they start blabbling! LOL
OH yes, it is a fish market when adults get together. There is so much noise, people cut in, start their own conversations, 2 or 3 talking together or a few monopolizing all conversations. How to listen is an important skill that most of us lack.
It's a North American thing and I agree with you. Disrespectful and not kind to the host.
Kindest regards,
Mike
lolz..I hope the talk show was not on some pakistani channel..was it? ;p
yeah I agree with you..par what to do..in our part of the globe and in our part of the media , this has become somehow their trade mark!
I think in TV discussions they are told beforehand that they are not supposed to talk out of turn.
TV debates have become slanging matches of scoring points.
The Indian TV hosts seem to enjoy the high decibel levels as it garners higher TRPs
I dislike this ' listen to me i am much more intelligent and know all' attitude displayed by anchors as well as the other participants.
Not only in TV shows but in any important meeting, you will always find some persons trying to hijack the issue and mould the discussion in the direction they desire just to highlight themselves in the crowed.Such elements should not be paid much attention.
Harman,
A good listener will prove to be a wise speaker too.
Take care
