knowledge.

kevin &keon
to much knowledge to the kids is also sometimes bad before knowing the actual facts or how the system works...
specially if the kid has an inquisitive mind and keeps asking questions ....he registers each and every details and its in his memory chip before he takes it out at appropriate  situation...it can actually be a source of an embarrassment for parents and others standing there.
my little one is falls in this category and I avoid giving him any extra knowledge unless required ...
Parenting skills also goes with helping kids understanding the matter equivalent to their age rather then unnecessarily burdening them ....
t....there was a lady in the show (Tv)who was pregnant ..
.my little one..."Dad why is this women so fat"??
my hubby"she is carrying a little baby in her belly  ,which makes her look like that."
my little one "ok"
now this was registered in his memory chip long time back...
We were at the gathering ,I was standing next to an old man in late seventies ,he had a big tummy...my little one came from nowhere and pushing his tummy he said"uncle Baby here?"
that old man kept quite as if he didn't hear and Before I could get more embarrassed I picked him up and took him out...
I didn't know what to tell or explain my little boy....and tried to get that thing out of his mind.
kids are innocent But sometimes a big embarrassment in-front of others!

Very well written. Its quite natural to ask various question moreover its inquisitiveness for a child to know everything. Child is very innocent and they are very sharp in remembering things obviously they do not know when it is appropriate to tell thats why parents feel embarrassed in some situation.

Ha ha ha:) It indeed is a very delicate art to impart the right things to kids. And its just not possible to escape such embrassing moments especially when kids are around. I have a cousin bro who was so very eager to know the reproduction process at the age of 8.. We had a tough time explaining things to him in a manner he understood it. Gosh! kids are to be kids, but they tend to act like grandpa's and grandma's ...:)

I guess people take it in their stride when kids make an inappropriate comment. My sons also end up putting me in embarrassing situations a lot of times.

Hmmm children have very sensitive immature mind, we don't overwhelming their mind with extra knowledge which is not of their minimum level. :)

This the first time I'm here. I like the topic you posted and the point you conveyed. I agree.
Deluge of knowledge and info more than that the mind can take will only burden the child and such faux pas will often happen to the utter discomfiture of the grown ups.

Also, I guess that limitless and uninhibited information that reach children of the present times also make them bold that they are not afraid to comment. In comparison, I was just looking back to the times I grew up.

Harman,

Children of that age are so innocent. We need to feed them information befitting their age. That is why parenting is such an art. You may explain it to him that it is not all those who have large belly have kids but some persons who eat too much also tend to have it. This reminds me of something which I read in Kids Speak column of a famous magazines long time ago. Mother of a child wanted to curb his habit of sucking thumb. So she showed him a person with beer belly saying that this is what happens if you suck thumb. A few days later one of her friends who was carrying came over. The little boy told her " Ah! I know what you have been doing."

Take care
