life on EDGE!

..I met Teresa again ...she was with same sling bag and sneakers ,may be back from university ..as usual, wearing some Indian bangles and some beautiful rings..but I still could hear shiver in her voice..
Teresa is beautiful red head girl studying in ..UFM(university of Michigan )one of the best universities of US..but every time I see her I assume "She is on High"but never had a heart to ask but her general personality speaks out..she has that dreamy glazed  eyes and shivering voice...asking for water if she is at my work place and then popping some pills .I once asked her what happened?? she said I am not well..but when I saw her hands, they were shaking ..she said I am upset ,I asked why?? she said I..my. (trembling)... exams didn't go well! ...was she lying? I thought...but these are personal questions.. like do you take drugs?I mean.. I cannot ask this ..its offending!!what if she is not??and I upset her for no reason!!

Life is on edge for those who are on the path of addiction..whether its alcohol or drugs or adultery...then days are counted..you never know when the countdown begins and there is blast!!..I really pity these people as to why they choose this way of life!!
are they weak personalities?or situations...there are many similar situations where I saw strangers in the car" on high"..really scared..as to what happened to them.?? my hubby..told me they are"on high" its crying like for no reason or just smiling or being a Zombie...
Addiction is a complex but treatable condition. It is characterized by compulsive drug craving, seeking, and use that persist even in the face of severe adverse consequences..its a chronic ,recurring illness which ultimately spreads but can be cured..depending upon an individual and circumstances!

We were in Canada for vacation in Toronto...I visited one of the houses where the tenants I saw an old Indian uncle  ..I didn't know as to what he was doing..but my hubby noticed and smiled..."Uncle is having some good time"I could see uncle smelling something out of the paper...its was very strange !!

Alcohol another addiction...if you don't put a stop..it goes forever ...this is a very common addiction among men and women..Ladies go berserk in parties...more then men ..women are seen on the Bars..its absurd Indian women at this height?? My last trip to India I was at a party..they made a cocktail and offered me..I refused and said I don't drink....they mocked as if ..I am from some village...but I give a damn !!to all this stuff where a women looses her dignity after a couple of drinks...but most of the crowd I could see was as if they just landed here from US or any other foreign country....same style of slang and copying the western world!!so Fake!! so much Booze ..!!and then ..laughing for no reason ..its like a clown in-front of
everyone...Disgusting!! I think living is US and following traditions here is not hard as in India now!!people are lured by west for no apparent reason!!or maybe I just want to keep  myself away from all this stuff!

Adultery which is one of the worst of its kind in addiction.....men or women..getting into physical lust is nothing but a disease which leads to end of life very soon... US has an open society concept..physical relationships  is no big deal...BUT then teenage pregnancy is maximum , single moms in abundance or divorces on part of cheating with partners ..so end of the day..its not God or anybody else who is culprit but own our deeds...
Tiger woods or Mayor Kirkpatrick or even Bill Clinton ..became a laughing stock at one time..for their misconduct and adultery..but tiger woods was a worst case..!!!

.life is on edge for those ,who are chain smokers or any kind of serious addiction...the countdown is bad and scary ..days are counted then..think before you take DRUGS!

(my blogs are my personal experiences and not a fiction..anybody having a similar experience is just a coincidence ,not to offend anyone.)

Believe it or not, besides reading in the newspaper, I have no exposure to any of the addictions you mentioned. I don't know a single soul with any of these issues. I know I am lucky..so far. I hope it remains like it.

I haven't been as lucky as "A" so I have seen a lot of these cases... I recently lost a family member because of alcohol addiction...

But I think before judging the addict people need to figure what drove them to that addiction... what forced them to choose the wrong path... because as long as that problem exists they can't get rid of their addiction... whenever they are bothered they will come back to their addiction looking for some comfort...

everyone has a way of dealing with issues... some people cry... some vent (bitching sessions)... some start drinking, drugs, etc. etc... but if we can help them eliminate the issue then they wouldn't move towards that... initially it just starts as a "problem reliever", or "de-stresser" but then regular use of it becomes an addiction...

The other outcome that wasn't mentioned in the post is... these addicts sometimes take their own life (Suicide) this is what happened in my family... In my opinion we could have saved the major tragedy if his family would have listened to him and tried to figure out what was bothering him... but instead they started judging him... saying all these things to him... which drove him further apart from his wife and kids...

I'm not saying that everyone is the same... but going through all this first hand... I really think that Sometimes there is more than what meets the eye...

Tum na mano ye haqikat hai
Dosti insan ki zarurat hai
Kisi din aao hamari mehfil me
Jaan jaoge zindagi kitni khubsurat hai..

Blogger Girl,

Here is the thing. Drugs and Cigarettes addictive because of chemical composition of them and NOT BECAUSE people are at fault. Once people start, it is very hard for them to give up because that is what the chemicals do do their bodies. Will power is required. For any reason if someone starts either of these, it is very hard to stop and I DO NOT BLAME the individual. I BLAME the people who make them start and exploit the situation.

On the other hand, alcohol is not that addictive. It can be controlled.

@A...its good you didn't come across such kind of people! but there are many poor souls in this whole wide world!

@Bikram ..yes..its scary and bad...not to mention where days are numbered..

@Abhilash..yes..a Worst kind of human living..on Drugs!

@blogger girl..its sad..loosing a family member..alcohol is very common addiction..but it has jumped the shark..then its needs medical help..most of the time the patient doesn't agree that he or she is alcoholic..so the situation is difficult..to handle...D-stress is nothing but a momentary help which is later a habit..and then an addiction,,the out come is serious..most of the time its lading to death...
I didn't mention the fixes ..may be sometime later with new topic..thanks..

Zeenu....Nice..:)

Addiction, simply put, is a disease. A neurological disease that takes over a person’s life completely, resulting in devastating life-altering circumstances. There are two components to addiction :the physical addiction and the psychological addiction. Many factors create a risk for addiction. In the case of certain drugs such as methamphetamine or heroin, almost any individual who comes into contact will become addicted. On the other hand, addictive behaviors such as smoking or over eating are used moderately by the majority of the population and only become addictions for some. One common factor found amongst addicts of all types is a low frustration tolerance. Addicts are highly susceptible to the negative effects of stress, often experiencing distress at a relatively low level of frustration. They become easily upset over everyday stress factors, creating a need for escape. They find this escape in their addiction.Genetic and environmental factors also contribute.

Once you are ready to admit that you have an addiction and that you want help with it, the work begins, but this first step is the hardest one of all for it means admitting that you have a problem, that you have been ruining your life (and the lives of others) and that you cannot handle it on your own and this is something most humans just cannot handle very well.

Another growing problem these days is internet porn addiction.

Why? addiction? Very few take it for just the sake of it. Many take it on as a diversion from what ever they think is not right in their life. It could be a very small thing or a big thing. The human mind is such that it can make a mountain out of a mole. The only way out is to communicate, break free, take help, for we are mere mortals and we wont become gods if we try to handle problem ourself. Every problem has a solution, one just needs a helping hand.
